"Creamy Home Café Café Latte Recipe Without a Coffee Machine"
Is there any better way to start your day than with the gentle morning sunlight streaming through the window and the soothing aroma of coffee filling your home?
In the midst of a busy life, taking a moment to pause and enjoy a creamy latte made at home without a coffee machine is a simple joy. The harmony of hand-brewed coffee and warm milk melts away the stress, warming both body and soul.
Today, I’d like to share with you an easy home café latte recipe that you can make without any special equipment. Embrace the small joy hidden within this simple process.
Ingredients
- Coffee beans: 25g of espresso-ground beans (I use a bit more since the pressure isn’t as strong as a machine)
- A clear latte cup
- Hand-drip kettle
- Cup-shaped coffee filter (I use a hand-drip dripper I bought from 쿠*)
- Hot water (85-87°C)
- 300ml milk (adjust to your preference)
Hand Drip Coffee Preparation
Coffee Filter Setup
Place the cup-shaped filter on top of the cup with the milk in it. (I’ve tried various drippers, but ever since I found the hand-drip dripper from 쿠*, I’ve stopped using my machine.)
Bean Selection and Grinding
Use smooth-tasting coffee beans that suit a latte, ground to an espresso level. Place about 25g of coffee grounds into the filter and level it out. For lattes, I recommend beans without too much acidity! (Personally, I blend Kenya 2: Yirgacheffe 3: Guatemala 1.5. Now, I can’t drink coffee from anywhere else…)
Adjusting the Water Temperature
Boil water in the kettle (to be honest, since mornings can be hectic, I usually just use the hot water from my Coway water purifier) and let it cool to around 85-87°C. Water that's too hot can enhance the bitterness of the beans, so this temperature is just right for latte-making.
Blooming the Coffee
Pour a small amount of hot water over the coffee grounds to moisten them, then wait for 20-30 seconds. This step is crucial to bring out the full flavor of the coffee.
Brewing
After blooming, pour the remaining water slowly in circular motions. Be careful not to pour too fast; keeping a steady pace will help the coffee extract evenly. I usually pour about 60ml of water in the first round, and 50ml in the second. When around 20ml has been extracted in the second round, remove the filter. Since the water continues to absorb into the grounds, the final amount is about 60-70ml. While it won’t be as concentrated as coffee made with a machine, the flavor will surprise you—machine-free yet this delicious… it might just bring tears to your eyes!

Combining Coffee and Milk
Since the coffee is dripped directly over the milk, you can simply enjoy it as is. Personally, I don’t add any ice because I prefer my coffee and milk undiluted. Once you taste this rich coffee mingled with warm milk, you’ll realize just how perfect this combination is!
With this simple process, you can make a creamy and rich latte at home, without the need for a coffee machine. Taking a moment in the morning, savoring the coffee you brewed with care and the milk that harmonizes so beautifully with it, is a special joy that no café can provide. I hope this small healing time in your own home café brings more richness to your day. So, take a moment and enjoy a cup of coffee today.
